This September, Code AV were delighted to be involved in ‘Over The Air’,  an annual Apps developers conference that showcases the very latest of hip and happening technology. As you might expect, it is a very creative and competitive arena and they have a ‘Hack Day’ where participants share ideas and learn new things by coming up with ideas which are under no pressure to be commercially viable or even feasible in the real world! in addition to this, there are some specific Hack challenges some of which are related to the themes of the conference and others that are put forward by the sponsors and offer the opportunity to win a prize.

This is the seventh Over the Air event , but the first to be held in London’s very own Silicon Valley in Hoxton, London. The event was previously held at Bletchley Park, home of the national computing centre, and of course also famous for the wartime ‘Enigma’ code breakers, but it seems fitting that it is now being held in one of the foremost new technology centres in the world.

It will come as no surprise that Over the Air will not use just any old AV solution. They expect and need the best, and to this end Code AV supplied a full and bespoke event solution using of course Full HD projection. This included a main room with 3 lecterns, 12’ x 7’ full HD widescreen projector systems, a PA system for 400, radio microphones, and 14 separate video inputs to the main screen all switched seamlessly. We also provided 2 x Marquees with large projectors and screens in both, plus PA systems and radio microphones. We also provided 7 breakout rooms, with a 50” plasma screen in each, with VGA, HDMI, Mini HDMI, Micro HDMI, and Mini Display port inputs available in each room (natch!).

This sort of event is technically very challenging, but with our know how and 4 of the best technicians in the business it all went smoothly. It is an event we are very proud of having supported and there is a beautiful synergy in the very best in technologies coming together to make such a prestigious and important event happen.

As you will have read in our last blog, we did a School Meals Roadshow in May and June this year. At the same time as the May Roadshows we also did a 3 day event in central Coventry called “Fully Booked “. As you can imagine doing two events at the same time is a challenge, to put it mildly, but this is what we thrive on. We provided a full event solution for Fully Booked last year and they made sure they booked us in for this year right after last year’s event finished! We are also delighted to share the news that they have already booked us for four events next year as well! Why do Code AV customers ask us to do their events and conferences year on year? Because we are the best in the business. We offer a bespoke solution for any event or conference and we always use full HD projection for every job.

So, we know that Fully Booked are a happy and loyal customer, so what are they all about? Well, it’s not your average conference, put it that way! It’s a marketing event for Personal Trainers and the fitness industry and it is as ‘hands-on’ and lively as you might expect! Your average delegate will have a full English breakfast and then head to a conference room for coffee and biscuits, not so at Fully Booked! Here we have a ‘morning rave’ to wake everyone up (including our MD Gary!) so for ten minutes it’s like an early morning disco but probably a little healthier.

As with all our events, there is Full HD projection , everything you can see below is supplied by us including stage, set, drapes, truss, moving lights, PA system, radio microphones etc. We also film this event every year in Full HD.

School meals are very much the flavour of the month, with the likes of Jamie Oliver getting involved and lots of government initiatives to improve standards around the country. Code AV’s maître d ‘Gary was therefore honoured to be approached to provide a full event solution for the DFEE School Meals roadshows in May and June this year. These roadshows consisted of two back to back roadshows a week in some very tasty locations (some more wholesome than others depending on your football allegiance!): Manchester United, The Spa Scarborough, Gloucester Hotel, Aston Villa Birmingham, Tottenham Hotspur and Peterborough Arena.

From our à la carte AV menu, they chose a conference set in white (custom of course) which had different size screens depending upon the venue: some used 8’x6’ screens, others had 10’x7’6” if room sizes permitted. The only “fixé” part of the Code AV menu is Full HD projectors, which we use for every job. As you saw in our last blog, Code AV has some very prestigious and loyal  customers. Code AV were delighted to have worked with ROMEC last year for their “ROMEC Roadshow” management conferences and even more delighted that they asked us back this year to provide a full conferencing solution for their 2015 Roadshows, including a custom conference set and of course Full HD projectors which we use on every job.

The ROMEC Roadshows are a series of conferences for management across the country in locations such as Newcastle, Aston Villa in Birmingham, the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester, and the Mermaid Conference Centre in London. Each of these highly regarded events has a very packed one day schedule, which means for the Code AV people a very early set up and test, then a full day’s Roadshow followed by an efficient pack up and then a drive to the next venue to do it all again! The ROMEC Roadshow schedule means that we do this two or three times a week for a couple of weeks, and we thrive on it! AV is what we do and we are the best at what we do!

As outlined above, Code AV provided a full conferencing solution including Full HD Projection, 50” Courtesy plasma, Custom conference set in white… basically everything in the picture plus sound!

Code AV has had some very prestigious customers and events this year, and we will be publishing a series of blogs about these over the next few days and months. The first one you can read about is the Staffordshire Tourism Conference 2015, which took place in April at Uttoxter Racecourse. The event is organised by Staffordshire County Council and Code AV are very proud that we have provided filming crew and equipment for this event for several years now.

Gary, the MD, has forged a successful career in AV from the heady days of slide projectors to the latest Full HD projectors, which Code AV use EVERY time, on every job. Code AV only do AV, nothing else. We pride ourselves on not spreading ourselves too thinly and giving our all to each event.

Staffordshire Tourism Conference, Uttoxeter Racecourse. April 2015

Code AV is proud to have Staffordshire County Council as a client, and this April we did the Tourism awards at Uttoxeter Racecourse. Tourism in Staffordshire, I hear you say? Well, just round the corner from the location for these awards is Alton Towers! Everyone has heard of this world-famous theme park but there is more to Staffordshire than a theme park and the Tourism Conference encourages growth and development of tourism in the county, with Keynote speakers, social media training and advice and funding workshops.  From Cannock Chase to Shugborough Historic Estate there is something for everyone, and of course there are also hundreds of hotels and B and Bs catering for the thousands of visitors to Staffordshire, from budget chains to boutique B and Bs and agrotourism.

From a logistics point of view, Uttoxeter Racecourse is a bit of a challenge: unlike many of our locations it’s upstairs and needs extra crew to get in. It’s also not very high which for many companies would mean compromise on quality, as this height restricts the choice of screen.

However, from Code AV’s vast array of bespoke equipment we used two 8’x6’ fastfold screens in a white conference set, Full HD projectors as we do for EVERY job and a 50” courtesy monitor in front of stage presenters.
